Cllr Abigail Smith
Cllr Abigail Smith is the Chairman of the Traffic Committee. Cllr Abigail Smith is a Member of the following committees:
- Finance, General Purpose and Personnel
- Rural Environment
Cllr Abigail Smith is also a Safety Partnership representative for the Parish Council.
I have lived in Painswick for over ten years and about three years ago felt I was in a position to get involved more in the community. I wanted to practically contribute so applied to be co-opted to the Parish Council when a vacancy was advertised in spring 2013.
Alongside general Parish Councillor duties, with a highways operations working background becoming the Chair of the Traffic committee seemed to be my destiny! However, this role has enabled me to positively engage with the community and I am wonderfully supported by a hard-working band of volunteers who make quarterly Speed Watch weeks and regular use of our mobile Vehicle Activated Sign possible.
I still work full time in highways but focused on tendering for large contracts. Outside of work, I enjoy walking, nature, and spending time with friends and family, plus actively contributing in my role as Parish Councillor.
I am passionate about animal and human well-being, making sure all voices get heard and working with others to find pragmatic solutions to benefit the community.
